Immigrants in the United States
The United States is the 4th largest country in the world. It is inhabited by about 331 million people. In 2019 the statistics showed that 14% of the American population are immigrants. In number it is 44.9 million people. What' s interesting is that the United States has more immigrants than any other country in the world. About 1/5 of all migrants live there. Most of them are from South America and Asia, to be more specific from Mexico, India, China and the Philippines. When it comes to their jobs a lot of immigrants work in health care and social assistance or manufacturing industry. California has the largest number of immigrants of any other state, which is about 10.7 million people. Other very populous states are Florida, Texas and New York. In bigger American metropolis we can notice many neighborhoods inhabited by specific nationalities. One of the best examples is the New York City.
