Polish district in Chicago
In many bigger cities in the USA there are neighborhoods inhabited by specific nationalities like Little Italy or Chinatown. We can find Polish districts as well. One of the most known Polish neighborhood is located in Chicago, Illinois. It's official name is Avondale but everyone calls is Jackowo or Wacłowo. In English this area is usually know as the Polish Village. Most of the Polish immigrants came to Jackowo after American Civil War. Avondale is considered as a center for manufacturing and distribution because many blue-collar workers live and work there. We can find there shops and restaurants with pierogi and borscht, Polish banks, churches with Polish priests and so on. On the one hand that is amazing and unbelievable how you can relocate one country to another.
